Abstract

1456878 Blade holders; saws PLAS PLUGS Ltd 28 Oct 1975 [29 Oct 1974] 46716/74 Heading B4K and B5L A holder for use with a cutting blade e.g. a hacksaw blade, and suitable to be received in the hand of an operator, comprises two interengagable portions 4, 6 moulded from plastics material and having surfaces 12, 14, 16, 18 which are adapted to confront each other when the two portions are in an interengaged position to define at least one elongate recess adapted to receive and grip a cutting blade, at least one of said portions having a projecting surface 30 within the or each recess against which in use an edge surface of the blade firmly abuts, and cooperating members 20, 24 and 25, 27 provided on end portions of the holder portions and adapted to interlock in a force-fit when the two holder portions are moved into an interengaged position. The two portions 4, 6 may consist of a single moulding being connected by a hinge portion 8 integrally formed with the holder portions and adapted to enable the two holder portions to be moved in an arcuate movement between the open and interengaged positions. The projection 30 may have serrations adapted to engage the teeth of a saw blade held in either recess.
