Abstract

1456822 Removing droplets from gas SERCK INDUSTRIES LTD 18 Sept 1974 [19 Sept 1973] 44021/73 Heading BIT A packing for removing entrained water droplets from air leaving a cooling tower comprises parallel sheets 2 of plastics defining between them sinuous ducts of rectangular cross-section through which the air flows vertically upwards (arrows X), the longer sides of the ducts having projections 8 which are semicircular in cross-section and arcuate lengthwise with their ends directed downwards. The projections assist water to drain back against the air stream. Sheets 2 are of square-wave section in a direction normal to Fig. 2 and are arranged back to back to form the ducts. Sheets may be glued together or held together in a metal frame.
