Abstract

1456591 Detergent/bleach compositions PROCTER & GABLE CO 14 May 1974 [14 May 1973] 21239/74 Heading C5D [Also in Division D1] A stable, phosphate-free granular bleaching composition which may be formulated with detergent additives comprises, by weight, (A) from 1 to 40% of a normally solid water-soluble organic peroxy acid or salt thereof; (B) from 1À5 to 45% of a stabilizing mixture consisting of (i) magnesium sulphate and (ii) sodium and/or potassium sulphate; the weight ratio, on an anhydrous basis, of (i) to (ii) being from 60 : 1 to 6 : 1; and (C) from 5 to 45% of water of hydration; the weight ratio of magnesium sulphate to peroxy acid or salt thereof being 1À5 : 1 or less. The preferred peroxy acids are diperisophthalic acid, diperazelaic acid, monoperoxy isophthalic acid, 4-chlorodiperoxyphthalic acid, monosodium salt of diperoxyterephthlic acid, diperadipic acid, p-nitroperoxybenzoic acid, and m-chloroperoxy benzoic acid. The composition may be formulated as a detergent composition by admixture with a surfactant which may be anionic, non-ionic, ampholytic or zwitterionic and organic or inorganic alkaline builder salts.
