Abstract

1456563 Fluidized bed kiln; burners GOSUDARST VSES NI INST STROIT MATERIAL I KONSTRUKT 20 June 1974 27452/74 Headings F4B and F4T A fluidized-bed kiln for calcining mineral stock (e.g. for producing aggregate for hardening concrete) has burners fitted into a hearth, the burners being uniformly distributed over the hearth's entire area. Each burner comprises a gaseous fuel tube 18, Fig. 3, a surrounding air tube 17, a cone shaped cap 22 with a central passage 25, and a diffuser 23. Jets of air and gaseous fuel are formed, the air jet being directed away from the vertical and diverging from the fuel jet. The bed is fluidized by the gaseous fuel and air. The fuel is burnt in the bed. The examples are of the production of (1) keramzite sand, (2) shungizite sand and (3) expanded perlite sand. As shown in Fig. 1, a shaft 1 is divided by a blank partition 4 into a calcining zone D and a preheating zone C. Material to be calcined is fed through a pipe 5 into the preheating zone C, falls on to a grating 8, is fluidized and preheated by gases passing upwardly through the grating, and thereafter passes through a pipe 6 to the calcining zone D. In zone D, the preheated material is fluidized by air and natural gas which are supplied from manifolds 13, 14 and through a device 12 which includes burners as shown in Fig. 3. The gas burns in the bed to calcine the material. Calcined material is discharged through a pipe 9. The combustion gases from the zone D pass to the preheating zone C through a cyclone 10.
