Abstract

1456306 Slicing apparatus PETER ECKRICH & SONS Inc 22 Feb 1974 [16 April 1973] 8271/74 Heading A4C In a slicing apparatus comprising a rotary knife 12, a feeding mechanism consisting of chains 26, 28 to engage, e.g. a loaf, therebetween, and a forklike slice-receiver 68 consisting of tines 70, the slicereceiver 68 being adjustable by tilting it about a horizontal axis lying in the plane of the slicereceiver and passing through the centres of curvature 120 of four arcuate slots 116 in parallel guideplates 118 by manually operating a knob 140. This also tilts a weigh cell 76, a housing 144, a support rod 102 for the slice receiver and an inverted cup-like housing 152 surrounding the opening of a tube 154 having an oblong cross-section about the above mentioned horizontal axis through the movements of four rollers 114. The slice-receiver can also be tilted about a pin 88 perpendicular to said horizontal axis, the pin being in the plane of the slice-receiver, and can be rotated in its own plane. When a desired weight of the slices on the slice-receiver, indicated by the weigh cell 76 which is mechanically connected to the slice-receiver via the support rod 102, is obtained, a solenoid 156 is energized to extend a rod 158 and thereby to move a second fork-like structure comprising tines 162 along a slot 164 in a guide-plate 150 to a dotted-line position, Fig.2. This pushes the slices off the tines 70 on to a conveyer belt 74. The housing 152 and a'base-plate 108 along with its extension 130 shields the weigh cell 76 from the debris during slicing operation. A control motor adjusts the position of the knife 12 in the cutting area by extending or lowering a shaft 16.
