1456240 Stabilizers for synthetic rubbers HOOKER CHEMICALS & PLASTICS CORP 18 Dec 1973 [27 Dec 1972] 58519/73 Addition to 1390851 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] Synthetic rubbers are stabilized by incorporating therein an oxidation retarding amount of a compound or mixture of compounds of formula wherein x is 1 to 12, Z is H, NH 4 , alkali metal, C 1-5 alkyl, or C 1-5 hydroxyalkyl; R is ethylene, 1,2-propylene, 1,2-butylene, 2,3-butylene, styrylene or a mixture thereof; R<SP>1</SP> is arylene, alkylene, alkenylene, cycloalkenylene or cycloalkylene, optionally substituted by carboxy, halo, or C 1-5 alkyl; each of M 1 and M 2 is a C 1-20 hydrocarbon, -(RO) x H or and P is 0 or 1 providing that when P is 0, the group is hydrogen. In the examples styrene-butadiene rubbers are stabilized using (i) a half ester of Gum Rosin-maleic anhydride adduct and N,N- dihydroxethyl - N<SP>1</SP> - phenyl - p - phenylenediamine, (ii) an acid phthalate of N,N - dihydroxyethyl - N<SP>1</SP> - phenyl - p - phenylenediamine, (iii) an acid phthalate of N,N-dihydroxypropoxypropyl - N<SP>1</SP> - phenyl - p - phenylene-diamine, (iv) the potassium salt of an acid of formula (v) the potassium salt of an acid of formula (vi) the acid of formula and (vii) the acid of formula
