Abstract

1455439 Lamps XEROX CORP 21 Dec 1973 59540/73 Heading F4R A lamp for use in a copying machine comprises an elongated envelope 10 having a narrow longitudinally extending window 12 through which light can leave the envelope and light sources 13, 14 arranged to direct light into the envelope from both ends. The envelope is made of diffusely reflective material or has an internal or external coating of such material, and the window subtends an angle of up to 65 degrees at the axis of the envelope. The light sources are preferably quartz halogen lamps but vacuum filament lamps or xenon flash tubes may be employed. The width of the window may vary along its length.
