Abstract

1455267 Load handling pallets REYNOLDS BOUGHTON Ltd 7 Nov 1974 [8 Nov 1973] 51797/73 Heading B8H [Also in Division B7] A load carrying vehicle including a platformtype body 1 has retaining members 3 which are pivotable from a first position flush with the body to a second position upstanding from the body. As shown in Fig. 1 each retaining member comprises a flat surface of wooden slats mounted on a framework 3 pivotally mounted via bearings 13, Fig. 2, on a structural member supporting the platform 1. As shown in Fig. 2 each retaining member 3 is operated by a threaded shaft 4 mounted in bearings 6 below the surface of the platform. Rotation of the shaft via a square portion 8 designed to receive a handle, causes a cross member 9 to travel along the shaft in one direction or the other to pivot the retaining member about bearings 13 by means of links 5. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5, each retaining member is in the form of a post which may comprise two telescopically arranged box sections 16, 17 and removable pin 18 is provided to lock the member 16 in various positions within member 17. If desired additional pivotally mounted retaining members (not shown) may be provided at the back and front ends of the platform. Also, the invention extends to arrangements in which the retaining members are raised and lowered manually and locked in the upstanding positions by pins inserted, for example, through holes located in the links 5 and structural members of the platform 1.
