Abstract
145,453. Delamare, R. L. J. Aug. 28, 1917, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Gear-cutting. - Bevel-gears are generated by a straight-sided cutting- tool or milling-cutter operating simultaneously on both sides of the tool by giving the tool a tangential displacement and the blank a rolling motion, the tool being reciprocated along a path such that the imaginary apex 11, 11<1> of the tool moves in a straight line towards the apex 1 of the generating-cone. The latter intersects the large and small ends of the bevel at the points 6', 7<1>, and 6, 7 respectively. The method may be applied to cutting bevels by means of formed cutters and is also stated to be applicable to the cutting of helical or skew bevels.
