Abstract
1454032 Refrigerating INTEGRAL PROCESS SYSTEMS Inc 19 Aug 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 36374/74 Heading F4H In apparatus for refrigerating articles travelling on a conveyer 20 from the entrance 18 to the exit 19 of a thermally insulated tunnel 11, a liquid cryogen, e.g. N 2 or CO 2 , is sprayed over the articles through a nozzle assembly 23 under the control of a temperature sensor 58 located in the circulation loop of the gaseous cryogen. The loop includes reaches 40, 41, which are separated by a baffle 28 and a blower having an inlet in a duct 32 connected to the lower reach 41 and an outlet connected to the upper reach 40. A damper 50 controls the flow of gas from the blower into the upper reach for proportioning the gas flow between the loop and a vent 49 at the exit 19 under the control of a thermocouple 51 at the exit 19 to prevent the entry of ambient air through the vent 49. Gas is exhausted from the tunnel by an exhaust device 38 the roof of the tunnel being provided, adjacent the exhaust device, with baffles, Fig. 2c (not shown), for limiting the exhaust flow 46 of gas from the loop.
