Abstract

1453764 Selective embossing PRONTER-WERK ALFRED GAUTHIER GmbH 18 Feb 1974 [9 March 1973] 7310/74 Heading B6F A strip embossing tool comprises an actuating member 22 pivotally mounted in a bearing body 26 which is rotatable between a first position in which the actuating member 22 cooperates with embossing dies and a second position in which the member cooperates with cutting means 48. A strip 42 is selectively embossed by depressing an operating bar 12b with the actuating member 22 in its first position. After each operation, a pawl 62 engages a ratchet wheel 58a to advance the strip. When the embossed strip is to be severed, a lever 34 is shifted to the position S shown, whereby a slide 30 shifts the actuating member to its second position. A spring detent 36 holds the slide in its new position. Then, on depressing bar 12b, the actuating member 22 engages the cutting means. A projection 30e on the slide 30 disengages the pawl 62 from the ratchet wheel to prevent strip advance. During a cutting operation, a projection 12d disables the spring detent to allow the slide 30 to move to its initial position under bias of a spring 32.
