Abstract

1453720 Silicone tyre-moulding release compositions SWS SILICONES CORP 16 Oct 1973 [16 Oct 1972] 48136/73 Heading C3T [Also in Division C5] A release composition for tyre-moulding comprises (a) 1-25 wt. per cent of a polyorganosiloxane of 1000-600,000 cS/25‹ C., (b) 0À1-10 wt. per cent of a polyorganosiloxane bearing amino or ammonium groups, (c) 20-70 wt. per cent of mica of 60-600 Tyler mesh, (d) 0À1-5À0 wt. per cent of a thickening agent, (e) 2-25 wt. per cent of a polyglycol and (f) 20-60 wt. per cent of a hydrocarbon solvent of b.p. not more than 200‹ C., and optionally (g) 0À1-5À0 wt. per cent of a wetting agent for (d). In Examples 1 and 5-7 (b) is prepared by equilibration of [Me 2 SiO] 8 with H 2 N.C 2 H 4 .NH.C 3 H 6 .Si(OMe) 3 i.p.o. KOH, addition of i.p.o. Pt, and hydrolysis of i.p.o. a polydimethylsiloxane diol. In Examples 2-4 these are added to (d) naphtha, followed by HCl (omitted in Example 4), mica (c), bentonite (d), methanol (g), a polyethylene-propylene glycol of MW 2600 or 3000 (e), and a polydimethylsiloxane of 100,000, 250,000, or 300,000 cS/25‹ C.; the filtered composition is used as bag lubricant in tyre manufacture.
