Abstract
1453631 Screen-printing machines MORRISON MACHINE CO 15 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 01820/74 Heading B6C A screen-printing machine which may have a flat-bed or a rotary drum as the support for the article to be printed is provided with one or more rotary stencil assemblies, each assembly having a plurality of individual inflatable tubes positioned between an inner elongated support and the squeegee contacting the outer patterned screen so that the pressure of the squeegee on the screen may be selectively varied along its length. Typically, a plurality of rotary stencil assemblies (24), Fig. 1 (not shown), are mounted around a rotary drum 20; squeegee 56, Fig. 3 forces ink or colour through the hollow screen 26 of each assembly, the squeegee holder 58 being biased by springs 64, 66 on bar 62 towards the bottom of U-shaped channel member 68, which inflatable tubes, e.g. (74) 76, (78), Fig. 4 (not shown) each connected to its own pressurizing source adjust the pressure exerted by the squeegee. In particular embodiments, the following adjustments can also be made:- (i) the angle at which the squeegee 56 contacts the inner surface of screen 26 can be adjusted through adjusting screw (110) and worm drive to holder (102), shaft (40) and block 38, Fig. 6 (not shown). (ii) the longitudinal position of assemblies (24) can be adjusted using nuts (124, 126), Figs. 5 and 7 (not shown). (iii) the tangential position of each assembly (24) around drum 20 can be adjusted through rotatable knob (154), screw threaded shaft (148), shaft (40), pin (150) and gear member (32) provided with helical teeth, Figs. 1, 5 and 7 (not shown).
