Abstract
1453333 Valves SAUNIER DUVAL 25 Oct 1974 [25 Oct 1973] 46291/74 Heading F2V In a valve for gas burner control a coil 2 is surrounded by a yoke 1 and has a fixed core 3 and an armature 15 the latter being provided with a rod 14 carrying a plate and disc 18, 22 which, with a valve 9 form two superposed mechanical valves seated over an orifice in a cup 11 located between an inlet chamber and passage 7, 8 and an outlet 17, 13, the solenoid first lifting the plate 18, from its seating over a passage through the valve 9, against a spring 12 and subsequent movement of the armature and rod bringing a clip 24 into contact with the valve 9 to lift it against a return spring 19 situated on the side of the valve remote from the solenoid. The spring loading of the plate 18 is arranged so that its increase with deflection is less than the increase in solenoid force with corresponding core movement thus providing for sudden full plate movement. The spring- loading of the valve 9 is, however, initially higher and increases more rapidly with deflection than the corresponding further armature movement, thus providing for slow opening of the valve 9 with increasing solenoid current. Initial spring loading of the valve 9 is adjustable by an anchorage screw 20 located in a well 27 below the outlet passage 17. When the plate 18 is lifted gas flows from the chamber 17 through the annular passage 23 between the rod and the valve 9 and until the valve 9 is lifted flow rate is independent of electrical input to the solenoid.
