Abstract

1452987 Special processes O C G WENNBERG and N H RUNFELDT 7 Feb 1974 [8 Feb 1973] 05760/74 Heading B3K The removal of electro-deposited material from edge regions of a sheet or plate 1, e.g. a cathode plate, is effected by a device which comprises a roller 4, 5 rotatable on or with a shaft 7 attached to a mounting 8 the roller having teeth or helical projections 9 around its periphery and being inclined at a small angle v to the edge of the plate 1. In operation the mounting is moved parallel with the edge of the plate and the inclined and rolling action of the roller removes the deposited material 14 from the edge region. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 two rollers are used, on one each side of the plate the combined action of which simultaneously removes the material 14 from the plate. In Fig. 7 one roller is used and the plate is supported on a bed portion of the device. The rollers may be driven or freely rotatable on their respective shafts.
