Abstract

1281478 Guiding webs WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 25 Sept 1970 [17 Oct 1969 29 June 1970] 45830/70 Heading B8R A turning device for deflecting a moving web 1 comprises a curved surface 7 defined by a plurality of supporting elements formed from helically curved shafts 3 each having a rotatable covering 4, the shafts being mounted in a frame 5 having semicircular ends 6. The covering 4 for each shaft 3 may comprise a flexible tube (9) supported on the shaft by rollers (10), Fig. 3 (not shown), or it may be formed from a plurality of closely juxtaposed convex rolls (18), Fig. 5 (not shown). In a second embodiment, the shafts 3 are semicircular in, shape and are mounted on a rotating cylinder to extend circumferentially thereto, the shafts being; alternately arranged on opposite sides of the cylinder (Fig. 4, not shown).
