Abstract

1452868 41 - Alkyl - 2 - methyl - 3 - piperidinopropiophenones EISAI CO Ltd 13 Dec 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 53924/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises the title compounds (wherein "alkyl" is Et, Pr or Me 2 CH), their acid addition salts, and a process for making them by reacting the corresponding 4<SP>1</SP>-alkylpropiophenone with CH 2 O and piperidine. Therapeutic compositions which may be administered orally or parenterally comprise the title compounds, which have muscle relaxant, spinal polysynapse reflex inhibitory, antitremorine and antinicotine activity. The treatment of pathological muscular contractive, spastic paralysis due to cerebral apoplexy, spinal and cerebral palsies, Parkinson's disease, peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders, and stiffness of the shoulder due to hypertension are mentioned.
