1452512 Terpenoid compounds of substituted hydroxyalkyl pyridines CHEMINOVA AS 18 July 1974 [31 July 1973 13 March 1974] 36367/73 and 11201/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula (I) wherein A is a hydrogen atom, B is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group, or, A and B when taken together, form a further single bond between the adjacent carbon atoms, or an oxygen atom, C is a hydrogen atom, D is a hydrogen atom, or, C and D when taken together, form a further single bond between the adjacent carbon atoms, R is a methyl or an ethyl group, R 1 is a methyl or an ethyl group, n is an integer from 1 to 3, R 2 is an alkyl group or a hydrogen atom, which substituent R 2 , when n is 2 or 3, may be the same or different, p is an integer from 0 to 3, Y is a substituent which, when p is 2 or 3, may be the same or different, are prepared by (a) ether formation (o-alkylation) between a compound of Formula (II) and a compound of Formula (III) where Hal is Cl, Br or I; (b) epoxidation of a compound of Formula (IIIa) to form a compound of Formula (IIIb) followed by ether formation as in process (a) to form a compound of Formula (Ia) or (c) alkoxylation of a compound of Formula (IIIa) to form a compound of Formula (IIIc) followed by ether formation as in process (a) to form a compound of Formula (Ib) The compounds of Formula I have juvenile hormone activity and are used for the control of insects.
