Abstract

1452260 Stamping OWENS-CORNING FIBERGLAS CORP 26 June 1974 [30 July 1973] 45460/75 Divided out of 1452259 Heading B3Q A stream feeder for glass fibre production is formed from a plate 30 by apparatus comprising a ram 20 shaped to conform to the interior shape of the feeder; two spaced apart rigid dies 14 defining an opening having die surfaces 13 extending lengthwise of the opening; and means for moving the ram 20 against the plate when across the opening, the clearance 22 between the ram and die surfaces decreasing as the ram moves through the opening. The reduction in clearance is achieved by tapering the ram. A support 16 is provided within the opening to resist the force of the ram. The support has slots 17 to accommodate and protect rows of projections 45 on the plate during forming.
