Abstract
1451519 Curved cellulose acetate fibres ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 8 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973 (2)] 43515/74 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] Filaments are spun and simultaneously stretched from a composition comprising, in acetone solution, cellulose diacetate containing free hydroxyl groups plus from 2 to 20% by weight of an acetone-soluble methylolated melamine or guanamine polymer. The polymer must have linkages between amine residues, a degree of polymerization of from 2 to 10 and from 30% to 80% of its free methylol groups akylated with a 1 to 4 carbon atom alkyl group. The guanamine is 2,4-diamino-6-substituteds-triazine, the substituent being a hydrocarbon group or a halogenated or nitrated hydrocarbon group. The solution is spun into fibres which are then heat-set to cross-link the cellulose acetate by reaction with the aminoplastic.
