Abstract

1451173 Farnesyl acetic esters KURARAY CO Ltd 25 June 1974 [13 July 1973] 28178/74 Heading C2C Farnesyl acetic esters of Formula I in which R 1 is H or C 1-20 hydrocarbyl and R 5 is C 1-8 alkyl or C 3-8 cycloalkyl, are prepared by reacting nerolidol with a compound of Formula II in which R 2 , R 3 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, are C 1-8 alkyl or C 3-8 cycloalkyl. Compounds I are novel when R 1 is C 1-20 hydrocarbyl. 1,1 - Dimethoxy - 1 - cyclohexyloxy - ethane is prepared by reacting acrylonitrile with cyclohexanol in the presence of HCl to obtain the corresponding imino-ether hydrochloride and then reacting this compound with methanol. Pharmaceutical compositions having antiulcer and anti-dermatosis activity, comprise a compound I in which R 1 is C 1-20 hydrocarbyl together with a pharmaceutical carrier.
