Abstract

1451036 Isostatic moulding GLEASON WORKS 29 April 1975 [15 May 1974] 17765/75 Heading B5A Powder compacting apparatus of the type that includes a chamber 12 for receiving a charge of powder material for the application of an isostatic force thereto, a plurality of moulds 20 for holding the powder material, a table having a plurality of openings therethrough for receiving and supporting said moulds, and a means 22 for indexing the table about an axis of rotation is characterized in that there are provided lifting and lowering means 66 associated with the table for moving the table along its axis of rotation towards and away from said chamber so as to provide for the insertion and removal of said moulds, one at a time into and out of said chamber, and blocking means 28 for restraining movement of each mould out of said chamber after the mould is inserted in the chamber, said blocking means being movable into and out of a position in which it restrains movement of the mould and arranged to operate through the openings in the table so that the table and said lifting and lowering means can be moved out of supporting contact with the mould after it has been inserted in said chamber.
