Abstract

1450914 Cleaning beer-dispensing systems; pipe connectors; valves ACT HOLZHAUS 13 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42985/73 Headings F2N F2V and F2G Relates to a beer or other beverage dispensing system, wherein a valve assembly (not shown, but similar to assembly 20-38, Fig. 2) is fitted to a cask (not shown) of the beverage, a valve actuating device 1-18, Fig. 1, is releasably coupled to the valve assembly (e.g. by interaction of flange 5 and lugs 23<SP>1</SP>), and the valve assembly/device is operable to admit to the cask carbon dioxide from a source (not shown) connected at 2 and to dispense beverage from the cask through tube 3 and a pipe (not shown) connecting nipple 7 to a bar-room dispensing tap (not shown). To clean device 1-18 and the pipe and the dispensing tap, the carbon dioxide supply is shut off, device 1-18 is disconnected from the cask valve assembly and connected to assembly 20-38 shown in Fig. 2, carbon dioxide valve 22 being opened by flange 6a upon such connection. Water is introduced into container 40, the carbon dioxide supply is opened and lever 4 is depressed to open the valve 23, water then flowing into the units to be cleaned to firstly dispense any remaining beverage therefrom and then to flush the units. The water may be introduced into container 40 via pipe 45 apertured at 46, 47, 48. Cleaning agent from a supply 44 may be added to the water under the control of valve 42. At the end of the cleaning cycle, valve 42 is closed and a water jet from aperture 48 removes traces of cleaning agent from pipe 43.
