Abstract

1450677 Seed-dispensing device R J BARKER and B M BARKER 12 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42420/72 Heading AID A seed dispensing device comprising a housing 1, a wheel member 4 rotatable in the direction A about a horizontal shaft 5, and cups 9 mounted on projections 10, the cups 9 dipping into the seeds 7 on rotation of the wheel 4 and each cup 9 generally picking up one seed. At point 14, the seed leaves the cups 9 and enters the exit tube 16. Brushes 13 aid retention of seed in the cups as they are rotated past the top centre position and sweep off any extra seeds in the cups 9. A brush 20 is mounted rotatably in the housing 1 for cleaning the cups 9 and brushes 19 prevent seed from entering the exit tube 16 should the device be tilted. A fine grating 17 is provided through which damaged seed may fall. Seed is adjustably supplied to the housing from a chute and a hopper. The wheel member 4 may be interchangeable and have different sizes and numbers of cups for different seeds.
