Abstract

1450359 Two-part coupling ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 23 May 1974 [5 June 1973] 23103/74 Heading H2E A connector strip comprises connectors 1 defining double-ended sockets with pin extensions 8, the sockets being housed in a two-part insulating body giving access to the sockets from opposite directions for insertion of connection pins. The connectors are formed by stamping and bending to have opposing spring fingers 9 which engage connection pins attached, for example, to a printed circuit board (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). The connectors 1 are held in base 14 on surfaces 18 separated by indents 17 and flanked by posts 19. Channels 21 accommodate any bent-over shanks 7 and pins 8. The cover 15, formed to mate with base 14 and having bevelled entries 24, may be fixed to the base by glueing or ultrasonic welding. Grooves 26 are above hollows in the base flanked by walls 27 (Fig. 4, not shown) and it is stated that shorter lengths of the strip can be broken off at grooves 26. The connectors 1 may be used with pins 8 perpendicular to member 5 or parallel thereto, with one of the pins removed (Fig. 5, not shown) as an option. The base and cover are of mouldings of insulating plastics material. (For Figures see next column.)
