Abstract

1450174 Holograms HITACHI LTD 18 Sept 1973 [19 Sept 1972 19 Feb 1973] 43830/73 Heading G2J A method of forming a composite hologram from a plurality of two dimensional images which may be coloured of a three dimensional object taken from different directions in which a respective hologram is made on a separate area of a common holographic recording medium from each photograph in turn comprises the following steps which are repeated for each such photographic image. (1) Producing a collinated object light beam and focusing it through the image to an area of recording medium. (2) Spatially filtering the beam by a mask having non-light and light transmitting portions which convert the beam into a regular array of smaller beams each of which passes through an associated light transmitting mask portion to converge towards an associated part of the recording medium. (3) Imparting different phase shifts to the separate beams, the shift imparted to each smaller beam being constant for that beam and the phase relationship between adjacent beams being pre-selected in accordance with a random sequence.
