Abstract

1450085 Drop moulding WINKLER & DUNNEBIER MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI KG 28 Sept 1973 [2 Oct 1972] 45633/73 Heading B5A A device for drop moulding foam material e.g. marshmallow centres for coating with chocolate, comprises a stock container 1 reciprocable relative to a dispensing device 2 having transfer chambers 7 for the accumulation of material; the container having a nozzle 5 with a slot-shaped outlet slidably engaged over a piston 11 of the dispensing device; and the dispensing device 2 having a valve member 10 reciprocable in synchronism with the container movement between a first position in which the transfer chambers 7 are connected to feed passages in the piston 11 while the container 1 moves towards the dispensing device and the piston 11 forces material into the chambers 7, and a second position in which the chambers 7 are disconnected from the container 1 and connected to outlets in a die plate 12, and plungers 8 discharge the material from the chambers 7, e.g. on to a conveyor belt 30, while the container 1 moves away from the dispensing device and the negative pressure created by the withdrawal of the piston 11 draws more material from the container 1 into the nozzle 5. A feed roll 3 is rotated intermittently in the container 1 to assist the vacuum feed to the nozzle 5. The container slides on guide rods 15 attached to the dispensing device 2 which is pivotally mounted on a table 13 carried on a rise and fall mechanism 32. The table 13 carries gear wheels 20, 21, 22 which drive the hopper and dispensing device through levers 17, 26, 28, 35. A single motor 25 drives all the mechanisms including the intermittent drive 31 for the conveyor 30.
