Abstract

1449603 Cathode-ray tubes EMI Ltd 6 Dec 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42463/72 Heading H1D In a cathode-ray tube having at least two guns, and a luminescent screen including at least two superimposed phosphor layers one of which is only excited by electrons of a higher energy than any other, the guns are arranged in the tube so that, in operation, at least two beams therefrom, one being of the higher energy, may be simultaneously and separately scanned in any desired respective scanning patterns. As described, the tube includes two guns, A and B, with separate scanning coils 6 and 7, which may be shielded from one another, and which permit registration of the scanning patterns of the two guns despite their difference in beam energy. The screen may comprise a first phosphor layer 4 of one colour, an optically transluscent layer 3 of titanium dioxide, a second phosphor layer 2 of a second colour, and an aluminium layer which extends also over the bulb envelope inner surface 10, has a lead 11, and constitutes the final anode.
