Abstract

1449487 Lamps; systems of lighting HILL-ROM CO Inc 16 Oct 1973 48233/73 Addition to 1343998 Heading F4R A hospital bedhead service unit comprises a pair of divergent side sections 213, 214 each of which contains the following lighting fittings: a) a reading lamp 243 consisting of a pair of fluorescent tubes mounted in a reflective housing 300 and covered by a diffusing lens 302 made of translucent plastics material with vertical flutes (304) on its inside surface and horizontal prisms (305) of its outside surface. b) an observation lamp 245 located in approximate alignment with the top edge of the mattress of the bed. c) a small-wattage night lamp 280 (Fig. 7) mounted in a housing 311 pivoted to the bottom plate 231 of the side section for movement between an open operative position (as shown) and a closed retracted position in which it is held by a catch spring 315. d) a ceiling lamp 247, and e) an examination lamp 298 comprising a quartz-halogen bulb (306) supported in a parabolic reflector (307) at the inner end of a tunnel-like housing 308 consisting of a plurality of generally rectangular reflective facets, the outer end of the housing being covered by a glass lens 310 with an infra-red reflective coating. The unit is mounted on the wall of the hospital room by a bracket 317 (Fig. 6) secured to the wall by toggle bolts 322. The bracket comprises a pair of spaced, upwardly directed, hooks 319 having oblique load-receiving surfaces which mate with surfaces 321 on support blocks 329 slidably adjustable by screws 334 in vertical channels 330 at the back of the unit.
