Abstract

1448956 Heating and ventilating motor vehicles BRITISH LEYLAND UK Ltd 28 April 1975 [26 Jan 1974] 03728/74 Heading F4V A motor vehicle heating and ventilating system comprises a heater matrix 20 within a casing and a flap valve 24, 25 at each side of the matrix which are mechanically interlinked for simultaneous movement from a first position in which each valve prevents air flow through the matrix to a second position wherein the valves do not restrict air flow through the matrix but the valve 25 in the second position also restricts air flow by-passing the matrix. A flap valve 35 controls an unheated air outlet at face level to which incoming air is controllably directed by the valve 24, the portion of unheated air flow not passing through the face outlet passing to an outlet 30 for connection to windscreen demisting ducts and to a further valve 33 controlling distribution to a level distribution box (not shown). Air after passage through the matrix may be mixed with the by-pass fresh air and pass to outlet 30 and distribution box.
