Abstract
1448325 Exhaust gas catalyst KURASHIKI BOSEKI KK 21 Oct 1974 [21 Nov 1973] 45412/74 Heading B1E [Also in Division C1] A metallic sulphate catalyst comprises copper sulphate, manganese sulphate, nickel sulphate, iron sulphate, cobalt sulphate, zinc sulphate or aluminium sulphate preferably used in an amount of from 0.05 to 20 weight % based on the weight of the catalyst and if present of the carrier. The catalyst may be used alone or in mixtures and may be used in combination with a carrier e.g. Al 2 O 3 , MgO or SiO 2 . Examples of mixed sulphate catalysts are given i) copper and manganese sulphates (ii) copper and cobalt sulphates (iii) copper and zinc sulphates (iv) aluminium and ferrous sulphates (v) copper, manganese and nickel sulphates. In examples calcined alumina is impregnated with a solution of a sulphate, dried for 20 hours at 110‹C then calcined at 450‹C for 3 hours in a stream of air. The process may be used for purifying stock gases typically containing nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen and water.
