Abstract

1447434 Stabilizing polymers CHIMOSA CHIMICA ORGANICA SpA 23 May 1974 [8 June 1973] 23086/74 Heading C3P Polymers, particularly polypropylenes, are stabilized with a mixture of (I) a 2-hydroxy-4- alkoxy-benzophenone and (II) a nickel, cobalt or zinc complex of a 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones wherein the alkyl groups are linear C 1 -C 18 alkyl groups. The polymer compositions may also comprise conventional stabilizers, and examples describe compositions comprising polypropylene, phenolic antioxidant, dilauryl thiodipropionate and calcium stearate together with (H) hydroxy octoxybenzophenone and nickel chelate of hydroxy methoxybenzophenone, (I) hydroxy octoxybenzophenone and nickel chelate thereof, and (N) hydroxy octoxybenzophenone and cobalt chelate thereof.
