Abstract

1447099 Code reading system PLESSEY CO Ltd 25 Oct 1973 49823/73 Headings G4M and G4H A hand held code reader 9 feeds data, e.g. from labels in supermarkets, warehouses, and libraries to a recirculating or random access memory 11. A keyboard 10 may also be used to feed data to the memory. Data from the memory on request from a central processor is fed via an F.M. modulator to an aerial 16. A loop aerial 19a passing near a plurality of such hand held readers feeds a receiver amplifier 21 via a transmit/receive switch. The data is decoded and checked and a tone generator 29 sends a clear signal which is an amplitude modulated signal different for each hand held reader. A request or a clear signal is received by the appropriate reader, passes a filter 18 and is used to operate switch 15 to a transmit position or to clear data from the register or store.
