Abstract

1446919 Dispenser spray head SCHMID LABORATORIES Inc 23 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 54603/73 Heading F1R [Also in Division A5] A dispenser for spraying medicament into the eye comprises a spray nozzle 10, Fig. 1, with an orifice 19 and ribs 22 for aligning the head with respect to a detachable eye shield 30 of translucent material, such shield having an open frusto-conical front portion 32, Fig. 3, and a rear sleeve 34 frictionally engagable with the head to locate it in an operative position, Fig. 3, by means of slots 47a, (47b) formed in a keyway (45), Fig. 6 (not shown) and also having grooves 50a Fig. 1 and (50b, 50c) Fig. 4 (not shown) parallel to its central axis which may be engaged with the ribs 22 to align the shield in a storage position wherein orifice 19 is covered by sleeve 34 and actuation of nozzle 10 is prevented. In the storage position projections 39 on the front wall 38 of shield 30 also engage a closure 12 of a spray bottle 14. The grooves 50 together with further grooves 64 in shield 30 reduce the wall thickness of the shield sufficiently so that light is admitted adjacent orifice 19. Focusing of the eye may be assisted by forming the spray nozzle 10 adjacent orifice 19 of a different colour.
