Abstract

1446784 Sublimation INTERATOM INTERNATIONALE ATOMREAKTORBAU GmbH 4 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 41415/73 Heading BIB [Also in Division F4] A desublimator comprises a vessel 1 with a gas inlet 9, a gas outlet 10, heat exchange tubes 2, 3 which enter and leave the apparatus at the same end, and a plurality of heat conducting plates 5 fastened to and connecting the heat exchange tubes, each having a substantially central orifice and being spaced from the periphery of the vessel 1. In use, tube 2 is operated as a cooling tube for deposition of solid from the gas being treated, and then tube 3 is operated as a heating tube to liquify the deposited solid for removal. Thus UF 6 can be separated from up to 10% by vol. of inert gas.
