Abstract

1282097 Reacting a gas with a liquid UNILEVER Ltd 2 Sept 1969 [3 Sept 1968] 41862/ 68 Headings B1F B1R and B1X In apparatus for reacting a gas with a liquid, the liquid is fed from a pipe 11 onto the surface of a rotating disc 2 and the gas is introduced through a pipe 12 surrounding pipe 11, the reaction taking place in a zone between disc 2 and a baffle 9, the latter being rotated in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the disc 2. A cylindrical baffle 13 enables liquid products flung off disc 2 and baffle 9 to be collected separately via outlets 15 and 16 respectively and gas is exhausted at 14. A cooling medium may be circulated through the hollow interior of the disc 2 via pipes 5 and 6.
