1446490 Dishwashing machines GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 31 Dec 1973 [2 Jan 1973] 36456/75 Divided out of 1446488 Heading A4F A dishwashing machine has a washing chamber 16 with a side opening closable by a door 44, and upper rack 22 for receiving glasses and cups and having upstanding members 78 for containing glasses and cups against lateral movement, a central rack 20 having means 66 for holding dishes vertical, a lower rack 18 for pots and pans, means, e.g. wheels 80, 68, 70 and 50 on the racks co-operating with tracks 82, 60, 72, and 52, mounting the racks for movement between washing and loading positions in and at least partially out of the chamber 16, the distance A between the bottoms of the racks 20, 22 being substantially greater than either the distance B from the bottom of the rack 22 to the top of the chamber 16 or the distance C between the bottoms of the racks 18, 20; and means for spraying washing liquid towards the racks 18, 20, 22 including a rotary spray arm 132 under the rack 18, a rotary spray arm 134, for spraying the rack 20, and e.g. having perforations or a rotary perforated star wheel 150, and means, e.g. a conduit 136 for spraying the rack 22. The rack 18 is provided with pivoted wire members 58 Fig. 8 (not shown) biased by springs 64 downwardly on the articles in the rack to hold them in position. A U-shaped abutment member 154 in the chamber 16 prevents movement into the latter of the rack 22 when this contains an article of excessive height. Washing liquid is supplied to the spraying means by a pump motor unit 26 constructed and arranged as described in Specifications 1446488 and 1446489.
