1446286 Hydraulic motors for step-by-step operation NISSEI PLASTICS INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 20 Feb 1974 [21 Feb 1973] 7830/74 Heading F1A and F1P A radial cylinder hydraulic motor comprises a plurality of pistons 3a, 3b, 3c reciprocable in respective cylinders 2a, 2b, 2c, a shaft 4 carrying an eccentric member 5 to which the pistons 3a, 3b, 3c are coupled, and individually operable valves 8a, 8b, 8c each controlling the liquid supply to and exhaust from a particular cylinder whereby operation of the valves to supply one cylinder while exhausting the others results in a predetermined angular movement of the shaft 4. Thus, with valve 8a open to a pressure supply P, the piston 6a rotates the shaft 4 until the effective lever arm presented to piston 6a by the eccentric 5 is reduced to zero, whereupon rotation ceases. During this rotation liquid is initially expelled from the remaining cylinders 2b, 2c through throttle valves 7b, 7c to a tank 9 until the piston 36 passes T.D.C. whereafter liquid re-enters the cylinder 2b from the tank 9. In a second embodiment the radially outer ends of the cylinders are pivoted for oscillating movement and the pistons have piston-rods pivoted to a star-shaped member journalled on a crank throw.
