1446116 Coin storage means LANDIS & GYR GmbH 12 July 1974 [26 July 1973] 31000/74 Heading G4X A coin storage means for receiving and returning coins has a spiral passage 13 which forms a storage means and in which coins are held at uniform spacings in the peripheral direction of the spiral by plates 25. The storage means is connectible to a machine 1 and coins pass into the means via passage 10 which is in an end plate 11. Spiral rings 12 are clamped together by screws 14 to form a cylindrical ring Z and the passage 13. Apart from coin insertion slot 10a there is a coin discharge slot 30 and a coin collecting slot at the end of the passage which leads to a coin collecting box. A continuously or stepwise driven rotor 20 is rotatably mounted in tube 19. An electromagnet 31 controls movement of armature 32 that engages in one of a series of bores 33 for locating the rotor at set positions. Optical equipment used in conjunctions with bores 35 allow for indication in the event that the supply of coins 15 stored falls below a minimum level. As shown in Fig. 4 coins are held between adjacent plates 25. In operation coins are fed along passage 10 into passage 13. Incremental rotation of cylindrical ring Z causes the coins to be moved around and along passage 13. When the store is full an addition of a further coin causes another coin to be deposited in a collection box. If coins are to be dispensed the ring Z is rotated in the reverse direction so that coins can be dispensed through slot 30. The storage means is mounted on a machine by pin 2. Spring loaded lever 5 engages recess 6 to hold it thereon. The storage means can be adapted for different size coins.
