Abstract

1445290 Educational appliances PAISLEY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY and G Y HAIG 21 Dec 1974 55646/74 Heading G5G Apparatus for demonstrating transverse and longitudinal wave motion comprises a plurality of cranked members (5), Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), each interconnecting respective beads 13, 14 and mounted in a framework 9, 10. The members (5) are engaged by a driving element in the form of a stiff wire bent into a helix (for the demonstration of progressive wave motion) or a plane sinusoidal curve (for the demonstration of stationary wave motion). The arrangement is such that rotation of the driving member causes the beads 13 and 14 to move simultaneously with motions representing transverse and longitudinal waves respectively.
