Abstract

1444232 Disperse azo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Feb 1974 [19 March 1973] 13111/73 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] Novel dyestuffs, free from SO 3 H groups, of formula (where D is the residue of a diazo component of the optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon series; X and Y are H, Cl, Br, alkyl or alkoxy; A is an alkylene radical of at least 2 carbon atoms; and n is 2 or 3) are prepared by diazotization and coupling or by esterifying a compound of formula above where the group -A-OCO(CH 2 ) n COOH is replaced by -AOH, with succinic or glutaric acids or their anhydrides. Preferred dyes are derived from 4- nitroaniline or its 2 or 2,6-substituted derivatives. The dyes are used to colour polyester materials in yellow to navy shades.
