Abstract

1444131 Cassette tape recorder BLAUPUNKT-WERKE GmbH 6 Aug 1973 [1 Sept 1972 14 Sept 1972 20 Sept 1972 27 Sept 1972] 37263/73 Heading G5R In a cassette tape recorder a sensing element 32 is displaced on entry of a cassette 51 in guide 31 and on the cassette reaching its operating position the element actuates movement of a support plate 10 carrying at least one drive element in a direction transverse to the direction of cassette entry to bring the element(s) into drive engagement with the cassette. On operating the recorder, electromagnet 48 is energized to hold trip lever 43 in position and when the cassette is entered it propels pin 32, attached to a slider in the cassette guide, to the left with latching pawl 35. This movement swivels plate 33 clockwise and when the cassette reaches its operating position pin 32 moves into latching engagement with projection 39 of lever 38. The movement of the lever releases pin 24 so that support plate 10 carrying the drive elements and supported on scissor arms 11 is lowered assisted by a snap action spring 34 connected to plate 33 and one of the scissor arms. When the machine is switched off or loses power, magnet 48 releases so that spring 49 pivots lever 43 anti-clockwise similarly pivoting latching pawl 35 so that pin 32 moves into slot 36 and the pawl is moved to the right, stretching spring 37, as plate 33 swivels anti-clockwise also by the action of spring 49. The snap action spring now acts to raise the place 10 and drive elements and as pin 24 engages cam 42 of central lever 34 this pivots releasing pin 32 from latch 39 so that spring 37 draws the pin back to the position shown thereby ejecting the cassette from the guide.
