1444044 Changing bobbins in winding units NEUMUNSTERSCHE MASCHINEN-UND APPARATEBAU GmbH 13 Feb 1974 [16Feb 1973] 6630/74 Heading D1F Apparatus for changing bobbins in winding units 2 of an installation for spinning synthetic yarns comprises, for each winding unit, at least one carriage 19 arranged to run on rails 18 and equipped with receiving mandrels 35 for the bobbins 17 and having a driver 38 which is arranged to be brought into engagement with the bobbins 17 and is slidable in the direction of the mandrels by means of a drive e.g. a double-acting pressure cylinder 37, the driver 38 having a position of engagement both on a winding mandrel 16 and on a receiving mandrel 35, the apparatus including an automatic control device arranged to effect the following switching cycle: a) the n-th receiving mandrel e.g. 35a is brought to the n-th winding mandrel 16, b) the driver 38 is moved into the position of engagement on the n-th winding mandrel 16, c) the driver 38 is moved in the direction of the receiving mandrel 35a, to thereby deposit the bobbin 17 on the mandrel 35a, d) the driver 38 is disengaged, e) the (n+1)-th receiving mandrel e.g. mandrel 35b, is brought to the n-th winding mandrel 16, f) the driver 38 is moved to the position of engagement on the receiving mandrel 35b, g) the driver 38 is moved in the direction ,of the winding mandrel 16, to thereby transfer an empty tube from the mandrel 35b to the mandrel 16, h) the driver 38 is disengaged, in succession for n = 1, 2.., n being the number of winding mandrels of the winding unit 2. The carriage 19 preferably comprises an L- shaped frame 25 carried on rollers 20, 21 on the rails 18. The receiving mandrels 35 are arranged on endless belts 31 to project laterally from the frame. Suitable drives 29 and 33 are arranged on the carriage for movement of the carriage and belts respectively. The drive 36 is carried on the frame 25, and in the case of winding units having upper and lower winding positions 11, 11a, two such drives 36, 36a may be provided. The driver 38 comprises the rod of a pressure cylinder 37 and includes an arm 39 movable between operative and inoperative positions and also including gripper jaws at the end of the arm 39. Similar drivers may be provided on the frame for transferring full bobbins to a creel 23 and empty tubes from the creel to the mandrels 35, the same switching arrangement being used. The creels 23 are arranged to travel on rails 22 located at one end of the rails 18 and at right angles thereto.
