Walls.-Building-blocks or bricks for constructing piers or columns to be connected by single or double hollow or solid slab walls or partitions are provided with a vertical channel B, or with two channels E, E<1>, in the stretcher-faces and with a channel F, or with two half-channels H<1>, or with one half-channel C in the header faces. One stretcher-face may be plain, as shown in Fig. 5. The blocks are reversed at each layer to break joint and to make a bond with the layers above and below. The holes D, the channels not required for the reception of slabs, and the interior of the pier may be filled with reinforcing-material.
