Abstract

1443061 Visors LCP (TRIM) Ltd 9 July 1974 [10 July 1973] 32908/73 Heading B7J [Also in Division B5] A visor for use in a motor vehicle is produced by forming an elongate body 12 of foamed material, forming two sheets of plastics material 14, 16 so that each has a recess therein surrounded by a peripheral flange and so that, when the sheets so formed are placed with their flanges in face-to-face contact, their recesses together define an elongate cavity which is complementary in shape and dimensions to the elongate body, assembling the pre-formed body with the pre-formed sheets so that the body is enclosed within the cavity and joining the flanges of the sheets together by high frequency diathermic welding. The plastics sheets may be provided with a grained or other textured finish to simulate leather and may be pre-formed by hot vacuum forming. A metal reinforcement or frame 10 may be encased in the foamed body 12. In an alternative embodiment one face of the body may be concave in transverse section and a layer of adhesive provided between the concave face of the body and the convex face of the adjacent sheet of plastics material.
