Abstract

1443012 Book covers GENERAL BINDING CORP 21 June 1973 [22 June 1972] 09599/76 Divided out of 1443011 Heading B6A A book cover has a backbone 11 integral with and pivotably secured along scribed lines 14, 15 to front and rear cover members 12, 13, a heatactivatable adhesive 16 being secured to the backbone. The cover may be of paper or plastics, and has adhesive release strips 18, 19 on the inside of the cover members so that it can be folded flat with one strip contacting the adhesive. The adhesive may be a layer of ethylene vinyl acetate, rosin and a wax, mechanically or adhesively tacked to the backbone. Projections or flaps, Figs. 12-14 (not shown) may be provided on the inside of the cover members to facilitate the location of sheets on the layer during binding by the method disclosed and claimed in Specification 1,443,011.
