Abstract

1442689 Liquid cargoes transfer apparatus K WIESE 21 June 1974 [22 June 1973] 27642/74 Heading B8E [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for loading and unloading fluid containers comprises sections of conduit each having two concentric pipes 7 and 8, 9 and 10, jointed to each other by swivel joints 2, 11, 12, 15, themselves having two separate concentric flow passages, being supported by a fixed column 1 on a loading platform and having at its other end means comprising parts 20, 21, 22 for connection to a fluid container. The apparatus comprises a swivel joint 2, rotatable about a vertical axis, mounted on the fixed column 1, being joined by an upper pipe connection 4 having a lateral branch 5 and an internal pipe section 6 each having an attachment flange. A further swivel joint 11, also rotatable about a vertical axis, is joined to the joint 2 through the concentric conduit sections 7 and 8, 9 and 10. Further curved conduit sections connect the swivel joint 11 with a swivel joint 12 having a horizontal axis of rotation, which is in turn connected to a swivel joint 15, also having a horizontal axis of rotation, through concentric conduit section 13 and 14. A further curved concentric conduit section connects with the delivery assembly, the outer pipe being connected to a bellows element 18 and the inner pipe being joined to a straight section, penetrating through the bellows, forming the delivery pipe 20 along which a displaceable closure hood 21, on the lower end of the bellows element 13, is guided. In the rest position the annular space between the pipe 20 and the bellows is sealed by an elastic closure ring 72. Two interconnected struts 24 and 25 supported on a swivel joint 26, connected to the column 1, engage on conduits 7 and 9 respectively and a counterweight 28 is attached to the section between the swivel joint 12 and the conduit 13. A hydraulic ram 29 is pivoted between an arm attached to the swivel joint 12 and the conduit 13. The swivel joints 2, 11, 12 and 15 each consist of relatively rotatable bodies 30 and 31 having hub-like parts 32 and 33 and sleeve-like parts 34 and 35 surrounding the hub-like parts. The hub-like part 32 is connected to the sleevelike part 34 by webs 36 and parts 33 and 35 are similarly connected by webs 37. A ring packing 38 is arranged between hub like parts 32 and 33 being retained by a ring 39 and a further ring packing 40 is provided between sleeve-like parts 34 and 35. The joint is effected through flanges 41 and 43 being integral with the part 31 and the sleeve 42 respectively. Ball bearings 45 are provided between the sleeve 42 and the body 30 and a leakage control bore 46 is also provided through the sleeve 42. The joint can be adapted to accomodate more than two concentric fluid paths.
