Abstract
1442559 Fire retardants for polymers CHEMETRON CORP 23 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 55484/74 Headings C3P and C3R [Also in Division C2] Compounds used as flame retardants in polymeric compositions have the formula where R is a divalent radical derived by removal of two hydrogen atoms from a hydrocarcarbon, halogenated hydrocarbon, hydrocarbyl ether or halogenated hydrocarbyl ether, wherein the two valence bonds are pendant from separate carbon atoms, and n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 10. Polymers that can be rendered flame resistant include acrylic resins, coumarone/ indene resins, epoxy resins, furan resins, melamine and urea resins, phenolics, polyamides, polyesters, polyalkenes, polystyrenes, polyurethanes and vinyl resins. The compounds can be used with conventional additives such as antimony oxide.
