Abstract

1442461 Sign constructions L V PANNELL Ltd 31 Dec 1974 [31 Jan 1974] 04577/74 Heading G5C A letter or symbol for a large sign has a back 1 corresponding to the shape of the letter, and a face portion 2 of the same shape as the base and connected to the base by sides 3 having L- portions which are secured as by welding to the base. The face 2 and/or the base may be translucent plastics, but at least the L-portion of the sides are of aluminium, the folded-over part being formed with V-shaped cuts 13 along edges having a convex curvature, and straight cuts 14 on the concave edges. The sides 3 may also be of plastics and are then secured to separate aluminium L-portions. One form of the device has all faces of aluminium, but those having at least one plastics face include an internal support 8 for a neon-tube 9. The face 2 is held against inset lugs 5 by extrusions 6 of aluminium screwed to the sides at 7.
