Abstract
1442356 Solid electrolytes VOSTOCH N-I INST OGNEUPORNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI 21 Sept 1973 44333/73 Heading C1A and C1J [Also in Division G1] A solid electrolyte (defined as an ion-conductive crystalline refractory body) comprises 92-98% alumina, 0À5-2À0% titania, 0À5-5À0% zinc or iron oxide and up to 1% impurities. A mixture for the preparation of the solid electrolyte comprises particulate alumina, particulate titania and either particulate zinc oxide or particulate iron oxide in the above proportions. The mixture may be prepared by simultaneous mixing and grinding to less than 3 Á. The solid electrolyte may be prepared by mixing the particulate mixture with 14-16% paraffin wax, heating to 60‹ C., forming, heating to 220‹ C. and sintering at 1550-1600‹ C. The electrolytes may be used for detecting zinc or iron admixtures in metals.
